On 11 June 2001, the Marine Unit conducted training exercises in conjunction with the Coast Guard.  A "trail line" was lowered from the helicopter to guide the rescue basket to the deck of the boat to simulate rescue of a person. The close proximity of the helicopter created high winds, loud noise and a great deal of spray.  Bear in mind that these photos were taken in good weather with calm seas. The rough weather that usually accompanies a boating accident would make this type of rescue extremely dangerous, but the training session was not without risks either.  All members performed well during this day's training.
