I bought it in November of 1982. It had previously been operated by the Bellwood Fire Protection District in the western suburbs of Chicago.

It was a 1959 Cadillac modified by the Miller-Meteor Coach Company to serve as a combination ambulance-hearse. The floor panels flip depending on which duty was needed. Then in September of 1983, I got a call from Columbia Pictures. They needed a car like mine to be a dup for their car, so I rented it to them. At the time I had no idea what Ghostbusters or an Ecto-mobile was. My car was re-painted for the before scenes.

The real Ecto-mobile got all of the attention in the movie. We went to New York City to watch some filming. We saw Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver reheasrsing in Lincoln Center. On June 15, 1984, we took the car to the Twin Drive-in Theater in Wheeling for the opening night of the movie. The car is now a fading memory. I sold it many years ago to a paramedic in downstate Illinois.
