African American Organized Crime
|
|
Ellsworth "Bumpy" Johnson controlled African American Organized Crime
in Harlem, New York until his death in 1968. The first organized gang
was a combination of two smaller gangs:
- The Supreme Gang lead by Larry
Hoover
- The Disciples lead by "King"
David Barksdale
Together, they were called The Gangster Disciples. Another
important figure is Jeff Fort, who started the Black P. Stone Nation and
The El Rukns gangs. Today, African American crime is more about street
gangs.
