History:
- 10 women joined together to from the 1st chapter of the Alpha Phi Fraternity at Syracuse University in 1872.

- Rena Michaels was the 1st president of Alpha Phi.

- In 1881, Alpha Phi became national by ading a chapter (Beta) at Northwestern University.

- The cornerstone of Alpha Phi's first chapter house was laid on June 22, 1886.

- The
Alpha Phi Quarterly was established in 1888.

- In 1902, Alpha Phi held the 1st inter fraternity meeting, which led to the formation of the National Panhallenic Conference.

- In 1906, Alpha Phi became international by adding a chapter (Xi) at the University of Toronto.

- In 1957, Alpha Phi became the first women's fraternity to establish a Foundation.
      
- Alpha Phi celebrated its 125th aniversary in 1996.

Facts:
- There are now 140 active collegiate chapters.

- There are over 200 alumnae chapters.

- Alpha Phi was the 1st women's fraternity to have it's own site on the world wide web.

- There have been over 140,000 sisters from 1872 to the present.

- Alpha Phi is the 4th oldest and 4th largest sorority

- The letter Phi is pronounced "phee" since this is gramatically correct after following the vowel Alpha.

- Alpha Phi is one of the only three international sororities.

- The original colors were Blue and Gold.  They were changed to the more distinctive Silver and Bordeaux in 1879 when it was discovered that Fraternity the Delta Upsilon had the same colors.
