We Need Volunteer Tutors
Retirees Welcome
We have openings for tutors in all GED subjects--English, English Composition, History, Science, Math--as well as ESL (English as a second language) and Basic Literacy (teach someone to read and write).
Who Can Be a Tutor?
Anyone with some free time and a desire to help others is welcome. No special training is needed. Our present volunteers come from many backgrounds--business, military, construction, teaching, and clerical. We encourage an informal atmosphere with tutors and students setting their own pace. All supporting supplies and materials are furnished including a computer lab with learning software.
What Does a Tutor Do?
Tutors spend a couple of hours a week at our center. Depending on the subject being taught, tutors may be working one on one or with a group of students. We have both daytime and evening hours on alternate days.
