KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Serbs in Kosovska Mitrovica protested on Sunday with the commander-in-chief of the international KFor force over KFor's insufficient protection of the Serbs in the north of the divided city.

Meeting with General Klaus Reinhardt at the Serbian National Council (SNV), SNV President Oliver Ivanovic said it had not been KFor but the Serbs themselves and their organisation that had provided the necessary protection against ethnic Albanian assaults.

Ivanovic said that all Serbs and Romanies had been driven out of the south, ethnic Albanian-populated part of the city, while the north part remained multi-ethnic, with Serbs, ethnic Albanians, Muslims and others living in harmony.

He went on to repeat the request for setting up a Serbian Defence Corps for Kosovo-Metohija.
