BELGRADE - Around three million children in Yugoslavia are waiting for the penalities imposed against their country to be finally lifted and to have a happy childhood, and the right to suvival, said Friday in Belgrade the president of the Yugoslav commission for cooperation with UNICEF and for the promotion of the position of women, Margit Savovic.

At a ceremony in the federal government, on the occasion of the 10th anniversay of the signing of the Convention on the Rights of Children, she recalled that children in Yugoslavia have been living for eight years now in the most difficult conditions.

Economic sanctions, war in the environment as a result of secessionism, and the new crisis caused by the international community in Yugoslavia have provoked the suffering of children in Yugoslavia and of several hundreds of thousands of child refugees.
