ROME - NATO aggression on Yugoslavia was the first major step in the direction of the imposition of a new world order, former U.S. attorney-general Ramsey Clark said at the Rome session of the International Tribunal for NATO War Crimes Monday.
The Tribunal hearing brought together about 150 representatives of Italian humanitarian, political and peace organizations and the U.S.-based International Action Centre, which, headed by Clark, has initiated the trial of the aggressors against Yugoslavia.
After briefly summing up the history of the U.S. imperialist wars and atrocities, from Vietnam, Libya, Iraq to Yugoslavia, Clark, the founder of the International Action Centre who visited Yugoslavia during the NATO air strikes, voiced admiration for the heroic resistance of the Serbian people to NATO aggression.
He said that the freedom-loving Serbian people held its fate in its own hands and did not allow anyone to tell it how to live.
Clark underscored that NATO aggression had been justified by an alleged ethnic cleansing of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija by Serbs, while he said the truth was that NATO pursued an ethnic cleansing of Serbs, because they were preventing with their resistance the imposition of a new slavery system, whose outlines he said were visible in other Eastern European countries.
Italian Senator Raniero la Valle pointed up the illegal and anti-democratic distortion of the nature and meaning of NATO, from a defense organization into an aggressive military one.
NATO has become a supra-state which has revived the worst medieval definition of war, as a form of an arbitrary punishment, de Valle said and urged Italy to withdraw from NATO.
During aggression on Yugoslavia, NATO forces launched a great many missiles with depleted uranium, contaminating the zones of their operations for generations to come, Sara Flaunders of the International Action Centre said and accused Washington of a programmed genocide.
Flaunders said that the U.S. had intervened in the Balkans against the Serbian people first indirectly and then directly militarily in order to impose its own political, economic, military and colonial hegemony, whose testimony she said were the U.S. military bases and troops in all the subjugated countries, from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina to Macedonia.
Flaunders recalled the media ploy about non-existent "mass graves," as part of which the number of ethnic-Albanian victims of the alleged Serbian terror was said to be as high as one hundred thousand.
After four months of search by various teams of experts, including FBI ones, not a single such "mass grave" was found in Kosovo and Metohija, and the latest group of Spanish investigators have said that a total of 187 bodies of ethnic Albanians had been found and were obviously the bodies of those killed in figting with Yugoslav security forces.
Senator Giovanni Ruso Spena stressed that head of the U.N. civil mission in Kosovo and Metohija Bernard Kouchner and the KFOR troops were trying to carry out the Nazi plan of a "Greater Albania."
He said that Italian troops in Kosovo and Metohija were not just doing what was their mandate but also what they were told by imperialist forces -- to turn a blind eye to the massacres of Serbs.
"Only ignorance and idiocy can believe the Western demonization of [Yugoslav President] Slobodan Milosevic, who is in fact a personification of the heroic Serbian defense not just of Yugoslavia but also of Europe and the world, as a whole, from an invasion by the worst imperialist force ever in history," eminent Italian international law Professor Aldo Bernardini underscored.
"Ask RAI why it is not broadcasting the truth about Yugoslavia," renown RAI reporter from many war fronts Fluvio Grimaldi said before the Tribunal ran two moving TV films about the heroic defense of Yugoslavia and its reconstruction.
