BELGRADE - Yugoslavia strongly condemns the attempts at destabilization and causing economic problems by bringing into the country 500,000 counterfeit 100 dinar notes, Yugoslav Assistant Foreign Minister Nebojsa Vujovic told foreign diplomats Wednesday in Belgrade.
This is the latest in a series of pressures on Yugoslavia, a glaring interference in its internal affairs, a violation of elementary rules of international relations, a part of the policy of sanctions and blockades and an aggression on Yugoslavia's economic and monetary system, organized by the same powers which had instigated the military aggression on this country last spring, Vujovic said.
States must cooperate in preventing crime, especially the smuggling of conterfeit money, weapons and drugs, Vujovic said.
A special war is being waged against Yugoslavia, including the introduction of well-made fake money aimed at causing inflation, Vujovic said.
Such methods are even used openly, as the US diplomat Robert Gelbard had recently said in Montenegrin capital Podgorica that fabricating inflation was part of the overall plans for destabilizing Yugoslavia and toppling its legally elected authorities, Vujovic said.
There are indications that fake money smuggling is done through Republika Srpska with the aid of its authorities, including Prime Minister Milorad Dodik, Vujovic said.
Yugoslavia is engaged in wide-scale reconstruction and recovery endeavors, which makes it a target for attempts at destabilization, Vujovic said.
