BELGRADE - Serbian Information Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Friday that the United States and its Western allies had achieved a total media occupation of the southern province of Kosovo and Metohija and that they were trying to do the same in other parts of Serbia.

They who have over the past few years professed to back democracy, respect for human rights and freedom of the media have shown that they do not at all care about human rights and freedoms and that they only want to destroy the Serbian people, Vucic told a news conference in Belgrade.

He warned that head of the U.N. civilian mission to Kosovo and Metohija (UNMIK) Bernard Kouchner was doing all he could to expel every single Serb from the province, also by allowing ethnic Albanian terrorist media to expand and by eliminating all Serb media.

Kouchner and his aides have expelled 1,000 employees of Pristina Radio and Television, of whom more than 800 are Serbs, have seized their flats and helped ethnic Albanian terrorists to move into them and have even set fire to one part of the radio and television's building in order to seize a part of its equipment and give it to ethnic Albanian separatists, he said.

All other Serb media in Kosovo and Metohija have also been destroyed, he said adding that even media in Turkish and Romany had been banned as well as some in the Albanian language that had not been to Kouchner's liking.
