BELGRADE, Yugoslavia, Oct. 8 (UPI) - Prominent ethnic Albanian politician Veton Surroi says a recent attack on him and the editor-in- chief of the Pristina newspaper Koha Ditore by the Kosova-Press news agency posed a threat to their lives, Belgrade media reported Friday.
Kosova-Press, believed to be the mouthpiece of the disbanded Kosovo Liberation Army, had accused Surroi and Baton Haxhiju of "spying for and cooperating with (Yugoslav President Slobodan) Milosevic's regime" and called them "scum."
The attack followed an article by Surroi in Koha Ditore, which he owns and Haxhiju edits, saying "fascists were now in power in Kosovo and that what was being done to the Serbs (in the province) was a form of fascism."
