IMMEDIATE POSITIONS AVAILABLE: COMMERCIAL LAW ATTORNEYS FOR ASSIGNMENT IN KOSOVO
The Center for Institutional Reform and the Informal Sector at the University of Maryland at College Park has legal positions available immediately to assist with commercial law reform in the Republic of Kosovo. The overall activity is to support adoption of priority policy and institutional reform and transformation in the Republic of Kosovo to support a development of a market oriented economy.
1. A Senior Attorney is needed to lead all aspects of this effort in Kosovo for six months.
2. Additional commercial law attorneys are needed for six month and shorter specialized assignments.
3. A senior bankruptcy specialist is needed for six months.
Specific tasks for this team of experts include:
* development of an appropriate property rights legal framework,
* development of a business law and contract rights legal framework supportive of private business formation and operation,
* creation of a practical legal strategy for resolving property disputes,
* provision of an appropriate regulatory framework for key infrastructure sectors,
* development of a trade law framework to promote open trade and investment flows, and
* preparation of a comprehensive legal and regulatory framework to facilitate application of international accounting standards.
The IRIS team will be part of and supported by a large group of economists, financial experts, other lawyers and institutional development specialists. It will work in support of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo and cooperate with other donor organizations such as the IMF, the World Bank, the European Union and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN.
