KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- KFOR early on Friday morning, after hours of tensions, dispersed a huge mass of ethnic Albanians who had gathered before the main post office building in the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica with the aim of siezing all telecommunications.

KFOR transported Serb postal workers to safety in the northern, Serb part of the city and then secured the post office building with strong forces.

The PTT links are functioning normally.

This morning, hundreds of ethnic Albanians surrounded the city bakery in southern Kosovska Mitrovica in an attempt to enter it by force. The French peacekeepers, backed by armoured vehicles, prevented at gunpoint the siezing of the bakery which also has 40 Serb employees.
