KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- The Serbian National Council of the Kosovska Mitrovica district on Friday strongly condemned the setting up of the Kosovo Protection Corps made up of the members of the ethnic Albanian terrorist KLA.
Council spokesman Nikola Kabasic said that the formation of the Kosovo Protection Corps under the auspices of the UNMIK and KFOR heads, Bernard Kouchner and General Micheal Jackson respectively, is an illegal and illogical act and an open violation of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244.
Such a Kosovo Protection Corps is the open continuation of the criminal terrorist acts of the so-called KLA because the same people who headed KLA, Hashim Thaqi and Agim Cheku, are now even more openly calling, on behalf of the Kosovo Protection Corps, for the expulsion of the Serbs and the creation of an independent Kosovo and Metohija, Kabasic said.
"It is well known that the terrorist KLA has turned in only ten percent of its weapons, which are outdated, while tens of thousands of modern arms remain in the hands of the ethnic Albanian terrorists," he recalled.
At its session today, the Serbian National Council decided to demand from Kouchner and Jackson to help the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija form their own corps which will be a civilian organization with solely humanitarian activities.
"The Serb corps activities will include civilian protection, first aid, firefighting and other humanitarian actions," Kabasic said adding that the corps could also be made up of ten percent ethnic Albanians who live in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica.
