KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- Ethnic Albanian terrorists have plundered Trepca's Stari Trg mine museum of crystals, located several kilometres north of Kosovska Mitrovica, sources at the town's university School of Mining said Saturday.

Miljan Jaksic, professor at the school, said that the stolen exhibits were of priceless value, stressing that this was the biggest plunder in the history of the Trepca mining and metallurgical complex.

Jaksic said that vivianite, the world's most precious crystal worth several million German marks, was also among the exhibits stolen from the museum as well as more than 1,500 different crystals collected since 1927 when the exploitation at the Stari Trg mine began on a large-scale, and 150 crystals donated by 30 countries from all over the world.

Due to its collection of crystals belonging to the sphalerite and galena group, the museum was considered to be one of the leading in the world.
