KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- Thirteen prisoners of the investigative prison of the KFOR French contigent and gendarmes in Kosovska Mitrovica went on hunger strike on Monday morning.
The prisoners, 11 Serbs, one ethnic Macedonian and one ethnic Albanian, are protesting because proceedings were opened against them without any court decision, and the Penal Code of Serbia and the Yugoslav Constitution are not being applied in their cases.
The prisoners have written to the KFOR French command along these lines, as well as to the Serbian National Council of Kosovska Mitrovica.
The letter to the council also said they were protesting because they are being accused on the grounds of anonymous complaints from ethnic Albanians.
