PRISTINA -- Five French troops on the international force in Kosovo and Metohija KFOR were killed in ethnic Albanian attacks on Serbs in Kosovska Mitrovica, near the main bridge on the Ibar River, in the night of Sept 9, the Pristina-based Center for Peace and Tolerance told Tanjug on Saturday.
The French troops had intervened to prevent wider-scale bloodshed, the sources said. In these attacks, eight ethnic Albanians were also killed and 30 Serbs wounded, they said.
A statement released today by the KFOR Press Center in Pristina did not mention fatalities, but said 15 KFOR troops had been wounded. It did not say from which countries the troops had come, merely that they had all left hospital during the day.
