BELGRADE, Yugoslavia, Sept. 1 (UPI) A mass grave containing the bodies of 42 Serb civilians has been found at the village of Zlas, near the Kosovo capital Pristina, independent Belgrade media reports.

The Serbs had been tortured before being killed, the reports said today, quoting unofficial sources in Kosovo. There has been no confirmation of the mass grave from Kosovo peacekeeping force or the United Nations civilian mission.

The Belgrade newspaper Blic quoted an unnamed senior KFOR officer Wednesday as saying that three mass graves within several meters of each other with tens of bodies had been discovered Monday near the exclusive Pristina suburb of Suncani Breg.

Blic said UNMIK forensic experts were examining the graves and that KFOR soldiers were keeping journalists away.
