The United States is speedily building a large military base in the vicinity of Urosevac, Kosovo and Metohija, and this is the biggest U.S. facility of its kind in the Balkans, thus seemingly refuting all claims by Washington that the NATO aggression against Serbia had been launched to allegedly prevent a so-called humanitarian catastrophe, Radio Free Europe said on Thursday.
About 5,000 U.S. troops within KFOR should shortly move into the new facilities. This reflects Washington's hurry and intention to strengthen its position in Kosovo and Metohija.
The spokesman of the camp, where the construction headquarters for the new base is located, U.S. Captain Pat Sweeney, confirmed that is question is the biggest U.S. base in the Balkans.
Before the deployment of KFOR in Kosovo and Metohija, the United States and its NATO allies had announced that their main military base would be located at Slatina airport, near Pristina. However, to their great dissatisfaction, the airport was taken by the Russian troops.
