BELGRADE - The Yugoslav Foreign Ministry lodged a strong protest with France on Monday over the recent demolition of a radio and television relay on Mt Mokra Gora near Zubin Potok in Kosovo-Metohija, a government statement said.

The protest note was delivered to Lorenzo Amberg, charge d'affaires of the Swiss Embassy, which represents French interests in Yugoslavia.

The relay was demolished by French troops of the international KFor force in that U.N.-secured province of the Yugoslav republic of Serbia.

This unlawful and incomprehensible destruction has grossly violated the sovereignty of Serbia and Yugoslavia over Kosovo-Metohija, which is guaranteed under the U.N. Security Council's Resolution 1244, it was noted on the occasion.

In this context it was asked that the consequences of this wanton act be removed as soon as possible, the relay repaired and made operational again, thus making it possible for Kosovo-Metohija and south Serbia to receive Belgrade radio and television programmes.

In addition, the Yugoslav side sought financial compensation for the losses sustained by Serbian radio and television and subscribers to its programmes.

The perpetrators' refusal to act on this protest would be tantamount to their taking on the character of a force of occupation, whose actions violate the sovereignty of Serbia and Yugoslavia, among others, it was noted, according to the statement.
