Macedonian border guards killed one and wounded two Albanians who attempted to illegally enter from Albania into Macedonia, the Macedonian Defense Ministry said Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the morning hours Sunday near watchtower Strozimir in the western part of the country, some 500 meters inside the territory of Macedonia.
The border guards noticed three groups of 15-20 men who had entered illegally from Albanian the territory of Macedonia, near Donje and Gornje Karamustafe, northwest from Markovih banova.
When Macedonian border guards attempted to prevent the entry of the Albanians, one group opened fire. The soldiers returned fire and killed one Albanian and wounded two Albanians. The Albanians then returned to the territory of their state, carrying with them the killed and wounded.
In the past few days this was the third incident on the Macedonian border.
