PRISTINA - British Prime Minister Tony Blair arrived in Kosovo-Metohija capital Pristina Saturday amidst strict security measures on the ground and in the air, and was welcomed by the head of the UN civilian mission Bernard Kouchner.
Unlike the US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who at least demonstrated some awareness of the persecution of Serbs in the province by ethnic Albanians when she visited Kosovo-Metohija Thursday, Blair made no mention at all of the escalation of violence against the non ethnic Albanian population in the province or of the Staro Gracko massacre, but spoke only in general terms of the need for future peace and safety for all ethnic communities.
Blair also made no mention of the exodus of the non ethnic Albanians from the province following the NATO aggression, or of the fact that 200 Serbs had been killed and 300 abducted.
