I was fortunate to work with Cozy in the Brian May Band on Brian's first solo tour supporting Guns N' Roses. He was an absolute doll to me and everyone else he came into contact with. The only time I ever saw him in a bad mood was when Swindon lost! I have a really warm feeling when I think of Cozy because he radiated such incredible energy and it was amazing to me that for such a monstrous, electric powerhouse on stage, he was such a gentle sweetheart off-stage. We had a lot of laughs on tour, but the whole year was not as wild as some might think a rock-n-roll tour would be. Most nights we would end up in the hotel bar or on the bus playing our favorite road game. I don't know the name of it, but it's the game where you start at the top of the alphabet and go around the group thinking of band names beginning with that letter until you can't think of one, then you are out. I remember sitting there for hours, amazed at how may band names Cozy, Neil, Spike, Brian and Jamie knew. Of course, being the only American in the group, there were some names that I was sure they made up! One night in particular, I think we were in a hotel in Germany, we had been playing for hours and were on the letter "R". Having exhausted his memory of bands beginning with that letter, Cozy excused himself and went off to his room. It was well past 2 AM. We all sat there, wracking our brains for yet one more band beginning with the letter "R", desperate not to be knocked out of the game. About 3 minutes later, the phone rang in the bar and a waiter came over to us and said, " the gentleman on the phone said RAINBOW!" We absolutely howled with laughter because after an hour of sitting on the R's not one of us, especially Cozy, had thought of it! Such a lovely man, I will never forget. He was so supportive of me even after the tour and came to see each West End show I did. I know that he's watching out for us all, making sure we are all on time......
