(4 pics below)
I've worked hard to get my quilt/craft room into shape where I could actually find things (like many of you) and today my reward was finding the box of bowtie blocks I started for a quilt for my son. They are all guy fabrics (paisleys, stripes, tweedy looking) - you know, like you might actually find ties made out of. I will list my finds by _predominant_ color of material in tie section that is set in muslin: 9 greens, 18 blues, 14 browns, 9 blacks, 7 deep red/rust blocks.... I think that's 57 completed 5" blocks, handsewn. I also found the little red plastic mario brothers lunch box I kept my cut pieces and 2 pattern pieces in... there's a stack cut up and ready to be sewn! I have such a large variety of materials in this, I haunted fabric stores for a couple of years, looking for different guy fabrics to nab more of for this special project which includes no leftovers, girly florals, nothing you wouldn't see a guy wearing in a shirt or tie material. There were even old pics I took as I went along, of trying the 2 different layouts you can arrange them in. EEK! by now he no longer sleeps in his twin bed, but has an apartment and a _full_ size bed! Armed with my box of 57 done blocks, red plastic lunchbox with block parts, and my yellow Whitman's sewing box, I'm ready to make the plunge, this will be what I make my first stitches in, since re-entering the quilt world!
