Tea and Sympathy
by Leslie LaVerne Bridges-Kemp
2000

Rose petals lie helter-skelter on a mirrored vanity top
Evidence of an expression of lost love and former beauty.
I enter a parched desert arena where bulls charge and bunnies hop.
Thirsty for tender mercy I wave a red cape out of a sense of duty.

Here in the year 2000 the computers are state of the art,
But the human heart festers in decadence and depravity.
Babys Breath, green with envy, enlivens the path to depart
From ignorance and embark on intellect, respect humanity.

Chaos lurks behind a faade of please and thank yous.
Order was the violated law and the crime was simply hatred.
Armageddon tick-tocks on Salvador Dali clocks as we choose
Death and deny life, aborting all that is purely sacred.
