Twin Lakes
by Leslie LaVerne Bridges-Kemp
2000

Time and the Archangels battled at previous dawn
over Midnight.
Time claimed it as a general anaesthetic,
and the Archangels swore that it existed as
a specific function of heaven.

Midnight took a slow train
in time to catch the Archangels
twelve trumps of resolution.

Sun and moon radiating Time;
Divinity permeating the reflections
of gold that loom over heaven.

Rowing around the aquamarine
qualities of lake and sky,
lake does not outdistance sky,
Liquids, blue hues, fish, bird, gravity
bow to grandeur.

Lake and sky merge intricately into a
womb of perfection wherein the conception
of royal maternity is conceived.
