| Step 1) Cut the plywood into two pieces (200mm x 200mm) Next sand the edges smooth with a med. grade sandpaper. Step 2) Clamp one of the 200mm pieces of plywood and the baseplate together, next measuring in from each corner about 10mm. you will need to drill 4 bolt access holes (using same size drill bit to fit the bolts you are using) drilling thru both the plywood and the base plate, then you can unclamp the wood. Step 3) Now using a drill bit a lil larger in diameter enlarge the bolt holes on the bottom of the base plate (so the bolt heads can be recessed into it) Step 4) Insert the bolts into the holes drilled onto the base plate. Next you will need to glue the undrilled piece of plywood to the bottom of the base plate,(this traps the bolts heads) then using finishing nails, nail the woods together. Step 5) Using a med. grade sandpaper sand down the edges of the wood till it has a nice gentle curve. Then using a fine grade sandpaper sand down the surfaces of the wood (including the lid with the holes drilled into it) Step 6) Using a small brush paint all surfaces with a base coat of white, when it has dried apply two coats of paint (your choice of color) waiting for each coat to dry completely before applying the next. Step 7) Cut out flowers from wrapping paper, then glueing the flowers to the lid of the press and letting it dry. Apply a coat of varnish to the wood, let dry and apply a second coat. Step 8) Now trim the corners of the two pieces of felt to match your rounded corners of your flower press, then cut a hole in each corner to accomodate the bolts. Step 9) Now sandwich the felt pieces between the top plate and the base plate of your press. Tip: Flowers are pressed between sheets of blotting paper (which are enclosed by cardboard) |

| Plywood( 400mm x 200mm x 12mm wood) - Wood (200mm x 200mm x 9mm for the base plate) - 2 pieces of felt - 4 bolts (6mm diameter and about 200mm long) - with matching washers and wing nuts - 15mm finishing nails - white wood glue - medium and fine sandpaper - acrylic paints - flower wrapping paper (for cutting out flowers) - 2 small brushes - varnish - drill and drill bits - clamp - hammer - scissors - hand saw |
