I got my first call from Taylor the night after hed arrived in Chicago.

I just feel so bad for missing your recital.  How did that go? he asked.

It was okay.  Madame said I looked a bit distracted, but it was fine.

How about those leotards? he asked.  I could completely picture the expression on his face.

Jordan Taylor, I do declare I said in a mock Southern accent.  He laughed on the other end.

No interesting ones?  Thats completely disappointing.

Well I said, my voice teasing.  There was this red one

Red? he piped up.  You look so hot in redyoure definitely going to have to model it for me when I get back home.

When are you getting home? I asked him.

We need to talk about that he said.

Whats wrong?  Things not working out for you guys over there? I asked.

No, its just thatWell, we need to get some film for the new video, and Train actually cancelled an appearance here, so were gonna get to use the House of Blues, he said.

Thats awesome! I told him.

Not so much

Why not?  Taylor that place will look awesome!

I knowthats why its too good an offer to say no to, he continued.

So why refuse? I asked, completely confused.

Well we wontbut its next Friday, he said slowly.

Next Fridaylike a week and a half from today, I said, trying to do the math in my head.

Yeah.  So Im not gonna be home for a whileIm so sorry Nat, he apologized.

No, I understandseriously I said.

Nat, I can cancel it if you want me to.  Just say the word, Taylor told me.

Taylor its your job.  You know what you have to do, I reasoned with him.  If he was going to cancel out on Fridays events, it was going to have to be his own call.

I didnt expect to be gone so long.  Ill make it up to you when I get home, okay?

Yep, I said, playing with his scarf.

I miss you, he said.

Miss you too.

OK.  Im gonna run, but Ill see you next Saturday, okay?

Yep, see you then, I said as I pushed the off button.  Id see him next Saturdaythree days after our one-year anniversary.
