Do I need to buy any equipment? No, but you are free to bring any of the following:
Folding Chair
Flashlight w/ red or blue colored lense (glow sticks work good, too)
Bug Spray
Binoculars (We recommend 10X50, though 7X 50 will work. Smaller binoculars, such as 7X35 will not work as well)
If you currently have a telescope, feel free to bring it, but don't go out and buy one until you're good at locating objects with a pair of binoculars
Food and pop

I don't know anything about astronomy. Can I still join? The club is designed to take complex theories and put them into a basic understanding. If you know the Sun is out in the day and the Moon in the night, you'll be fine.
What if I can't get a ride to the meetings? Club members must find their own transportation to and from the meetings. Carpool, if need be. |

The club will challenge your mind... Some of the topics we will discuss are, quite simply, mind blowing - e.g. time travel, shape of the universe, black holes, and the creation of the universe. Some topics, such as the life on other planets, may be contraversial. It is very important that yonger club members talk with their parents about discussion topics. We will look at the studies of: Ptolemy, Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Kepler, Brahe, Hubble, Einstein, and Hawking (to name a few). All opinions are welcome, and the more diverse the group, the better. |
