| Brielle sighed, stepping into her apartment. There had been a note from Steve in her office saying that he was getting a ride back to her apartment with Colby, and that they would meet her at Brews Brothers if she wasnt home by nine oclock. Brielle made it back at eight and saw that Colbys car was in the driveway. She opened the door and at the same time she opened her mouth to yell for Colby and Steve. She looked up to see candles placed around the apartment, and promptly dropped her hockey bag out of shock. Tears welled up in her eyes as she wandered around the apartment, looking from room to room for Colby. She found him when he was walking out of the bedroom, tossing a lighter from hand to hand and humming Open Arms by Journey. He looked at her and smiled. I didnt expect you home for a while, he said, walking over to her and wrapping his arms around her waist. Steve said you were in the spa and you usually spend hours in there. I didnt think Id be home early, she admitted, averting her eyes from his. It was then Colby realized that she was close to crying. Baby, whats wrong? What happened? Brielle took a deep breath and looked up at Colby. Im fine, nothing happened. She paused and looked around at the apartment. Im just so Sweetie, what did you do to my apartment? she asked with a small smile. Colby grinned. Wait until you see the bedroom, he said, taking her hand and grabbing the doorknob with his free hand. He paused before opening it. Close your eyes, he said as he turned to her, his eyes gleaming with excitement. Brielle obliged and closed her eyes. Colby opened the door and lead her inside the room. Keep them closed, he said, letting go of her hand. Dont move. Within a few seconds, Open Arms was playing softly over the CD players speakers set up around the room, and Colby had moved behind her and had deposited his arms around her waist. Open them, he whispered in her ear. Brielle opened her eyes to see white rose petals scattered around the bedspread, and a few small candles burning on her dresser and the bedside table. White roses were placed in vases in every spare spot, completely filling up the room. The tears that still occupied Brielles eyes threatened to spill over as she took in the room. Colby placed his head next to hers, putting his chin on her shoulder. Say something, he said, kissing her cheek. I dont know what to say, Brielle muttered, loosening Colbys grip on her waist and turning to face him. No ones ever done anything like this for me before. I cant imagine why, Colby said, re-depositing his arms around her waist. You are amazing Brielle silenced Colby with a kiss, throwing her arms around his neck and pulling him toward the bed. Holy shit, woman, Colby managed to mutter in between kisses. Brielle turned him around and pushed him down on the bed, pinning him between her body and the mattress. Why havent I ever seen this side of you before? he managed to ask as she attacked his neck with kisses. Brielle stopped kissing his neck, and looked at him with a slight smile. Never mind about that, she muttered. Lets just say that its not the last time youll see this side of me. ~*~*~ Colby and Brielle walked into Brews Brothers, Colbys arm slung protectively around Brielles waist as he displayed a huge grin. Eric was playing darts with Tom, and was tossing one at the board when Colby and Brielle walked in. Looks like the happy couple decided to grace us with their presence, Tom muttered, taking in the grin on Colbys face. Erics shot went wide, completely missing the board by a few inches and sticking in the wall. Eric rolled his eyes. Happy couple my ass, he muttered, taking another shot, and getting it directly in the bullseye. Tom blinked. Since when do you make shots like that? he asked. Have a little faith, Eric replied. And I guess dont even get a nice shot. Well youre beating me, Tom pointed out. That doesnt mean you cant be a good loser. Yes it does. Eric decided to bite his tongue. This argument was not worth fighting, or even winning for that matter, and Eric knew it. He allowed himself to glance over at Brielle and Colby, who were standing near the bar, talking to Brielles brother, Matt Murley and the girl he had shown up with, Lisa. Matt had introduced her as an old friend from home, but she appeared to be more than just a friend, from Erics point of view. Colby was walking mostly to Matt, grinning almost uncontrollably, his arm protectively around Brielles shoulders. Brielle was talking with Lisa, and she looked rather uncomfortable in her skin at that moment. No one seemed to notice, especially Colby. He was too busy grinning to notice anything. Youre not gonna argue with me? Tom asked, snapping Eric out of hie reverie. What? Oh, uh, no. Not this time, Eric replied. Tom frowned. You always argue with me. He paused for a few moments while Eric squared his shoulders and took another shot at the dart board. What happened? Whaddya mean what happened? Eric asked, retrieving his darts and handing them to Tom. Dont be such an idiot, Ive lived with you for two years, I know your moods. Tom took a shot and watched it stick in the board under the 3 spot. Now are you gonna tell me what happened now that youre sober, or do I have to get you drunk? Eric scowled. Fine. But this goes absolutely nowhere, and I mean that. Eric paused. Not like when I was drunk and told you I knew Brielle. I never told anyone that! Tom claimed, taking another shot. It went wide and completely missed the board. Bullshit, then why does Murley know about it? And Scudsi? And Tally? Eric asked, crossing his arms over his chest. I dunno Yeah, okay, whatever you say, Kotsy. I swear I wont tell anyone, Tom said, raising his fingers in a boy scout salute. Scouts honor. You were never a boy scout, Eric pointed out. I had the hat, Tom said, frowning. Whatever. But, um Brielle and I kinda kissed in the spa earlier. Holy shit man, what the fuck is wrong with you?! Tom shouted. Eric looked as if he were about to strangle him, so he lowered his voice. Shes dating Army, what is the matter with you? Hey, there were two sets of lips present, if I recall correctly, Eric argued. And mine certainly werent doing all the work. Eric paused. And well to be honest, Im not quite so sure if it was such a huge mistake. Not sure if it was a For fucks sake man, not only is she our coach, shes dating Army and Tom suddenly stopped talking. Oh, screw it. Youre gonna beat yourself up over this for the next week. I can tell you that its not a good idea until I turn blue, but you probably arent going to listen to me and I know I wont be able to change your mind. Tom downed the last swig of his bottle of Coors. You do what you have to. He put the bottle down on a nearby table. I need another cold one. Yeah, thats a good idea, Ill be back in a few, Eric muttered, setting his focus on where Brielle stood at the bar, barely paying any attention to what Tom was babbling. You wanna grab me a Tom trailed off as he watched Eric head toward the bar. No thanks buddy, I didnt really want another one, thats alright he mumbled, turning around and taking another shot at the dart board. He got the bullseye and he barely even aimed for it, looking around in disbelief. No one saw that? I cant believe no one saw that. Just my freakin luck. |
