ALL ABOUT GERRY COTT!

Gerry Cott, alongside Garry Roberts, was one of two guitarists for the Boomtown Rats, and like four of the others, he was born in Dublin. Raised around animals, his passions branched out into music when he saw Bob Dylan live in concert at the age of 11 in 1966. This inspired him to start playing flamenco guitar, which eventually lead to electric.
Already married by 1975, he joined the Boomtown Rats, playing as the lead guitarist. Rats songs Cott wrote would be Keep It Up (in collaboraton with Geldof...), and Man At The Top, the B-side to Banana Republic.
He left in 1981 after becoming increasingly distant with the other Rats, commenting that the sole reliance on Geldof's writing pushed him to leave.
One year after he left, he released his own solo single, Ballad Of The Lone Ranger, with the B-side Just Like Anybody Else:

In 1983, Pioneers was released, and a 5 song EP titled 'I Left My Hat In Haiti' with singles 'Alphabet Town' and 'Some People I Know' in 1984.

Gerry also designed the Aria Pro II PE1000GC electric guitar:

He then pursued a career with animals, joining the company A-Z Animals, and later becoming president of the branch A-Z Dogs, training animals for films, commercials, and other special events.
