The challenge was to use these twelve words in a story, poem, or limerick for our March Special category: kites, wind, village, fashion, dipped, top hat; evening, heartfelt, reminiscing, meadow, sidewalk, calico

GENTLEMAN WITH A HABIT

THE TOKEN VILLAGE DRUNK HAD A UNIQUE HABIT.
EVERY EVENING HE WOULD STROLL DOWN THE SIDEWALK.
IF HE MET A LADY OF FASHION WEARING CALICO,
HE DIPPED HIS TATTERED TOP HAT IN GREETING.

ONE EVENING THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENED.
HE WAS WALKING AND DAYDREAMING,
REMINISCING OF DAYS GONE BY WHEN HE WOULD WALK
THROUGH THE MEADOW FLYING HIS KITES.
TO HIS HEARTFELT SORROW THE WIND GRABBED HIS HAT
AND TOOK IT AWAY LIKE A KITE.
DID THE WIND READ HIS MIND?
