 Her hair was long, blonde, and fell in a cascade of curls to her waist, but her eyes, her beautiful blue eyes, were sightless. There had been sightless male singers before. Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and others had managed to overcome blindness and become icons in the music world. But, never before had a female vocalist overcome such a handicap. Standing onstage in Carnagie Hall tonight, she looked out at the cheering crowd. Her eyes were without sight, but her heart saw, her ears heard and her mind understood......the love that flowed from her audience. A woman doesn't need sight to feel the love, she thought. The audience continued to stand and cheer as she launched into yet another song. Only those in the first few rows noticed the tears that bathed her face as she sang the words. "Amazing grace....how sweet it is......"
