MARCH MADNESS

So, it's March madness time of year. I am not really sure why it is called March madness. But it sure is a busy month. The Star Spangled Banner was made National Anthem on March 3rd 1931. The Girl Scouts of USA was founded on March 12th 1912.

The best part of March for me is that my middle son was born on the 15th, 35 years ago. He celebrates it each year on the same day the Buzzards come back to Hinkley Ohio. He has always found this funny and often receives a stuffed toy buzzard for his birthday.

St. Patricks Day with parades and hoopla, lands on March 17th.

This year Palm Sunday is on the 24th. So all you men who wear nothing but palm leaves should be sure to send it to the cleaners for pressing.

Good Friday is on the 29th of March. I am not really sure how good I plan to be that day.

And then of course we have Easter Sunday on the 31st of March. I have noticed the cottontail bunnies often have small bunnies about this time of year. One year I saw no bunnies. But on Easter one small baby hopped onto the patio and peeked Through the patio window. This caused me to regain my belief in the Easter Bunny. Not Harvey, the giant invisible talking bunny, but the bunny that appears on Easter.

March is a happy month for me. It is warm enough, yet cool enough to enjoy long walks along the lake. The air smells crisp and fresh, and somehow it seems that everyone walks with a spring in their step.

This is the time of year, that gives us a reason, although we really don't need a reason, to shop for a new spring outfit. Of course it also reminds me, that swimming suit season is soon on its way, and even though I promised myself I would have less body to fit into a new bathing suit, it never seems to work out that way.
