EASTER PARADE

A bonnet of straw, trimmed with lace,
A frock of moire, a tiny waist.
A lady she was, the sidewalks she graced,
mincing steps, a parasol,
every hair in place.

On the avenue....
Fifth Avenue....
The photographers snapped her,
Every gentleman tipped his hat to her....
One man said oh, if I could write a sonnet,
I would write about the bonnets,
and of the gal I'm hoping to take
to the Easter Parade.
