Twilight is the time to stare at black leaves against a country-blue sky....A time to wonder at the day's happenings.....A time to tremble at the quickening breath on my throat....A time to hear birds settling sleepily down for the night.....a time to envy their cozy nests swaying on the night's dance of air....What would I have it be? A creek moving softly under the trees? A wind stirring the upper limbs? A sigh pushing thin cotton against my breasts? A summer heat on my thighs? A cord lashing me to the pain while I drift higher, higher into the night sky? A star singing desire at me? Galaxies of heat and color spinning in my belly? A hand lifting my hand to a mouth that loves me? Eyes seeking truth in my silvered tears? What would I have it be? I would have it be you and I in embraces I don't even know enough to dream of. I would have it be truth and honor and the answer to every aching need, every unfulfilled dream. I would have it be a night-long inhalation of life, before I lay me down to die.
