LOVE
 Liz Larrabee([email protected])
With spring in the air a senior's fancy may turn to love.
I love you as the shore loves
the constancy of the sea,
as the horizon loves the thrust
of the mountains peak.
I love you as the symphony
loves the speak of violins,
as thunder loves the echo of its rage.
I need you as the wolfs call needs the wind
to summon its mate in the moon,
as the rose needs roots to shelter its soul
as the roosters crowing must have the dawn.
As daybreak loves the bursting sun
And dusk the evening star, I love you.
As wine needs vineyards,
As time cannot exist without its passing,
My heart cannot beat without your touch.
And when I need a memory at lifes end
Your face will be the portrait I take with me.
Your voice will be my chariot.
My last breath will be yours.
