Percival Edward Wilkinson

WILKINSON, Percival Edward Born on July 1st, 1903 at Corvallis, Oregon, died on January 1st, 2006 in Victoria, BC. Percy was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (nee Kennington), his daughter Percia (Hamer) and by his brothers Donald and Philip. He is survived by his granddaughter Dawn and her husband Paul Holland, by his grandson David and his wife Marlene (Bourne), by his greatgrandchildren Rowan and Kathleen Holland and Trevor and Chloe Hamer, and by his son-in-law Rev. Charles Hamer; also by many nephews, nieces and cousins and other relatives, mostly in BC, Ontario and the UK. Much of his nearly four years with the RCAF during the Second World War was served overseas with RCAF, USAAF and RAF units. He was an active member of Scouts Canada for more than 80 years, the Canadian Legion for more than 50 years, the UVic Alumnae, RUSI, the Air Force Officers Association, and numerous other organizations. He was active in cricket and tennis for many years, volunteered with the Poppy Fund, the Red Cross Society, Meals on Wheels and other local charities. Apart from his early childhood, most of his life was spent on southern Vancouver Island in the field of education in private and public schools and with the BC Department of Education. He received BA and BEd degrees from the University of British Columbia, and in 2004 was granted an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Victoria. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 6th, 2006 at 2:00 pm in St. Stephen's Anglican Church 7921 St. Stephen's Rd, (off Mt. Newton X Rd), Saanichton. Flowers are gratefully declined in favour of support for the Victoria Hospice Society, (1952 Bay St, Victoria BC V8R 1J8), The Salvation Army or a charity of personal preference. 191446
