I don't have any horses right now. I had my first one when
I was 13, and she taught me a lot! She was great at teaching me
what Not to do when riding. I first had to learn to ride bare-back
since we didn't have a saddle, and her favorite thing to do was
run full-tilt across a field with me, and when she knew I wasn't
paying close enough attention she would make a sharp turn and
dump me off. Then she would stop (with an indulgent look
on her face) and wait for me to pick myself up and get back on
for the next round. She was a great horse (3/4 Arab, and 1/4
Quarter horse) who adjusted to each rider with a wisdom I've
seldom seen. Put a child on her back, and she acted like an old
nag, but the more a person weighed the more she would test
their riding skills.
I never lost my love of horses, and have worked at
stables many times just for the joy of being around them.
I dream of being able to have horses of my
own again someday.
The best job I ever had was working at a fox hunting
club in NJ. There I worked with both the hunt horses, and
fox hounds, I loved it! After being stubbornly "western"
all my life, I learned to ride English there, and have
never really gotten away from it since.
I like doing a lot of things... reading, swimming,
four wheeling, singing, riding (of course), drawing,
hanging out with my friends, etc... I am in
community college to earn a 911 dispatch certificate right now.
I will finish in June of 2000. I have a big mutt dog who I love
dearly, and who makes me feel very safe. His name is Bear.
I also have a mouse catcher (cat) who I
haven't named yet, but have gotten rather fond of... lol.
I like country music mostly, more the old stuff than the new.
Ian Tyson's "cowboy country" I love. And, being a Christian,
I love gospel music as well.
In the company of the right people, I enjoy lots of
things. I don't like crowds, but do like doing things
with people I love. I am "country", and need my time
away from the "rat race".
Among my favorite quotes are: "Laughter is the
best medicine", "In everything give thanks for this
is the will of the Lord Jesus Christ concerning you",
"Everybody to their own notion..." (my Dad adds to that
last: "said the old lady when she kissed the cow" :)
