Crimson Sacrifice - A ritual performed to appease the Hellish Abyss. In this ceremony, The older twin strangles his /her younger twin to death to become one with him/her again. When dead, the younger twin is thrown into the Hellish Abyss and his/her soul then becomes a Crimson Butterfly. The energy produced from this ceremony reseals the Hellish Abyss for a certain amount of time.

Itsuki and Mutsuki greatly disagreed with logic of the Crimson Sacrifice. Both of the boys felt that there had to be some way around it. They believed that there had to be a way for people to appease the Abyss without causing so much pain. Itsuki wanted himself and Mutsuki to run away from the village so they wouldn't have to go through with the ritual but Mutsuki was to weak to flee. Knowing there was no escape, Itsuki and Mutsuki made a pact with each other to never let this happen to their good friends Yae and Sae.
