Itsuki Tachibana is "The Remaining". He was left behind by his twin Mutsuki after the Crimson Saccrifice Ritual a year before The Repentance. Itsuki and Mutsuki loved each other so much that the ritual ended up in failure, and a year later it was Yae and Sae's turn to perform the ritual.
Itsuki, who made a pact with Mutsuki not to let the same thing happen to Yae and Sae, wrote a letter to his friend Ryozo asking him to help after their escape. Keeping his promise to Mutsuki, Itsuki distracted the villagers as Yae and Sae made a run for it.
When they found out the girls were gone, Itsuki was locked up in the Village's storehouse and there commited suicide by hanging himself. Sae was captured after Itsuki's death, and when she saw what happened to him, she wept, saying "It's all our fault! We shouldn't have tried to escape!" |
