The main difference is the Canon EOS Rebel XTI has a much highter Mega Pixel ability.
While a higher mega pixel is the first things some people look at, it may not be the most important. A high mega pixel means the image will be larger when viewed on your montior at "ACTUAL IMAGE SIZE" not zoomed in, or at "FULL SCREEN". However most people do not use a monitor resultion that goes now where near as high as some of these new cameras, mose people use these screen size of 800 x 600 pixels, or 1024 x 768, and then maybe 1200x1000 but that is not many people. so unless you are doing the following:
Cropping down the image to just the "hot" area, and this would in turn make the image smaller.
Printing alot of large pictures off such as 8"x10" or larger. The high ultra high mega pixels are not so important.
One of the important things that i feel like are over looked is the size of the actual LENS, the larger the lens is the more light it is able to get into the image without having to use a flash. And the more light the camera gets the faster it is able to take the image. In turn the faster the image is taking the more "stop action" the image will be, if you look at CHEAP cameras, you will find out you have to hold the VERY still and have plenty of light to be able to take a picture that is not blurry.
