Our Rndhouse

  These are pictures of our roundhouse.  The outside looks alot like a science project gone mad.  There are 4 domes all connected together.  The outside has a foam over it.  It  is a kind of insulation that was blown on it.
      The ceilings are 18 feet tall. the wall on the inside are all round.  They are made up of triangles with wood filling them up.  There use to be sky lights in the living room, but they were covered up years ago, because of the heat in the summer months.  There is still a sky light in the bathroom over the tub.   When we first moved here Kelly was in the tub and looked up and seen eyes looking at him  It scared him and he started hollering.  Turns out it was a squirrl looking in the  sky light.  The squirls run races over the tops of the domes all fall.  Then the hicory nuts, and walnuts  rolls down them too. They sound like big balls rolling on the top of the house.
You can see in the bottom right picture where the sky light use to be. Just the end ones were left open.  The slanting of the windows makes it very hard to hang curtian and shades.  The house is very easy to heat in the winter, but very hard to cool in the summer months.  There is a pipe in the main dome that pulls the rising heat to the other domes. We can usually heat the whole house during the winter months with one kerosine heater.
     The kitchen has a loft over it. When it was being built it was the bedroom, and had a spiral staricase that went up to it.  When I get it the way I want I want to put a day bed up there just for looks.  I have my jar collection on the otherside of the loft over the kitchen. then hanging down from the jars now are my hanging birdhouses. I have 5 and three plants now hanging down.  The kitchen has one wall in it that is a regular wall. It has the kitchen cabnets on it.  The wall behind the fridge is curved also.there is also a srtaight wall in the front room. they are the only two straight walls in the house.  You can imagine the problems of trying to hang anything on the walls.  It took me quit a while to figure out how to do it.  It take a nail at the top and two at the bottom to hld it on the wall.  Then they still run down hill some.
     The entry way in the living room has a Big shelf over the top of it.  I have it full of my bird houses.  I am going to have another page to show them all off.  I collect birdhouse and they are all over the house.  All the decorations are all in peach and county blue.  I love peach anything.  Cowboy swears I would paint him peach given the chance. 
     I have some new pictures of the house to put in from this Christmas.  Can you eminage how big a tree I can have with 18 foot ceilings.  Cowboy will not let me go by myself anymore.  The last one had to be tied by wire so it wouldn't fall over.  This years had 2500 lights on it and was over 10ft tall and 21 feet around the bottom.  I LOVE big trees.
     the house sits back in the woods.  It has a hay feild on both sides of the drive way.  It sits almost 1/2 mile off the road.  We have a deer that raises its babys all summer in my grape harbor.  She had twins last year.  They all bed down in the hay feild of a night.  They usually just watch us coming and going.  We don't bother then much.  I have a big yard, almost two acres.  It makes it nice for the gandkids, buts it takes a lot of work keeping it mowed.
