Wrangler Quotes
The following quotes are taken from Joe Nick Patoski's article "True Fit" in the September 1993 issue of Texas Monthly.
George Strait (country musician) "I've been wearing Wranglers since I was a boy because they fit me just right and they're the best damn blue jeans in the world." Fred Whitfield (world champion calf roper) "I used to wear Levi's in high school, but it's just not the thing to wear. Besides, they don't sponsor rodeos." Emilio Navaira (country/tejano singer) "When I'm flying by the seat of my pants, I feel really safe in Wrangler jeans. Besides, a lot of female tejano fans think that the right pair of jeans is the bottom line, if you know what I mean." Rick Perry (then the Texas Agriculture Commissioner, now the, um, governor) "Next to my wife, there's nothing that feels better that the feeling of Texas cotton in my Wranglers." Bill Mack (WBAP disc jockey) "They set a mood. They look like Texas." Chuck Norris (actor and martial artist) "They fit the best for when I need to kick butt." Pete Laney (then the Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives) "I was born and raised in blue jeans. Until I went to college, I didn't know there was anything else--except for a Sunday suit."

"Justins are the typical boot you'll see on most men in Montana and Texas. They are usually round-toed, soft and easy to ride in. They keep your feet in the stirrups real nice. So the more pointed your cowboy boot toes go, the gayer they get! Wrangler jeans were specifically made for the hardworkin' ranch hand. You buy them pre-washed, so they are rock-hard the first few times out. It actually take a good few months of regular use to break in a pair of Wranglers. But the genius thing is that they shrink to fit your form. All of my favorite jeans are Wranglers that I've had since high school-- tight, with rips in all the right places. What's weird is that they were cut to be worn in the saddle so they have extra-long legs and high waist. So when I don't have the time to tame a pair of Wranglers, and when the clubs I'm headed to don't have hitching rails outside, I pullo on a pair of good ol' Levi's, or boot-cut Diesel jeans.... With belt buckles, the golden rule is that real cowboys don't wear buckles they haven't won in the rodeo. It's sort of a social ranking thing-- the guy with the hardest-to-win buckle is the most manly. And anywhere you go, the best buckles are always made in Montana (Montana Silversmiths is the brand). Regardless, a buckle is obviously the best way to draw attention to your package....

After Cal finally arrived, we sat and got better acquainted.... Cal is not only a cowboy from Texas but also rides bulls in the rodeo circuit. I quickly learned from Cal that the Levi's that all of us think are so hot are NEVER worn by REAL cowboys; they all wear Wrangler 13MWZs. He gave me several reasons for this. For one thing, they have a nice fit across the butt and in the crotch. The other main difference is the placement of the seams. On Levi's they are down the inside of the leg; Wranglers does it on the outside of the leg which is more of a comfort issue (especially when bull riding). It turns out that Cal had some camer time in the Luke Perry movie "8 Seconds," where he did a bull ride as a stand-in for the Stephen Baldwin character (Tuff)....He had an old pair of his Wranglers with him that didn't fit anymore and he gave them to me to try on. They fit very nicely, to my surprise. I was always partial to Levi 501's and still like the way they fit, too. These were very cool as they have the outline of his "dip can" on the one back pocket. After we had all finished talking we decided it was time to do some "playing." I was already half turned on wearing this pair of the cowboy's Wranglers, thinking about him having them on and his big "package" in the crotch that I was in now."
