Jack Paisley was the head Coach of the Mini Rugby section between 1975 and 1984.  Cov Tech had one of the best mini sections in the country at the time, with teams for the under 8s and under 16s.  Jack can be seen above with some of the trophies won in this time.
The President of the mini section was David Duckham who played for Coventry from 1968 to 1975 and also had caps for England and the British Lions.

The first team at the time, from left to right, with Arthur Bushnell:

Top:  Jim Mangam, Andy Bell, Martin O'Loughlin, Chris Eaton, Rob Walker, Nick McNair, Paul "Tat" Glenn, Ade Berry, Bill Wasson, John Morrison.
Bottom:  Simon Moore, Martin Hendry, Steve Cooke, Chris Walker, Rich Chappell, Richard Farrell, Jason Glenn, Alan Tucker, Mark Tucker.

When Arthur Bushnell decided to step down as President of Cov Tech RFC, he wanted to give the club a parting gift.
Arthur, who now lives in East Grinstead undertook a 100 mile sponsored walk along the South Downs Way from Eastbourne to Winchester.  At the time of the walk, Arthur was 76 and had had a knee replacement operation 4 years previously, as the result of an old rugby injury.
Along the route, he stopped at youth hostels which must have provided a haven from the torrential rain and howling winds which he came up against.
"At times I was forced on to my knees to negotiate inclines which were running with wet limestone," he said.  Arthur reached his target of completing the walk in a week and managed to raise over 1,200, which the club spent on the above shirts- now known as the 'President's Shirts'.
Arthur quoted, "I might well have given up because of the conditions, if the walk had been for anything other than sponsorship."

Arthur was capped by England as a schoolboy, before his career was interupted by the 2nd World War.  After the war, he played for a number of clubs before becoming involved with the Tech, first becoming Captain, Treasurer and finally President.
