i met john mayer!
here's my story... its true!
On Sunday, May 26th 2002, I went to Freedom Weekend Aloft in Anderson, SC. Its a fair kinda thing that goes on every year. They have rides and food and concerts. On Sunday 38 Special, Michelle Branch, and John Mayer played. (in that order) All of them did GREAT by the way. Well, my dad knows 38 Special because he used to be in the Marshall Tucker Band and they were on tour with 38 a lot. So we got backstage passes for that. And Clay Cook, who wrote some of John's songs is in the Marshall Tucker Band. So my dad and I know him. Dad called up Clay to see if he could hook us up with John. Well....the day of his concert, John Mayer called my dad's cell phone!!!! He left a voicemail with his # and my dad called him back. So that's how we got the hook up!! (NO, I don't have John Mayer's number, sorry folks!!) We went backstage and waited on Mr. Mayer to get there...a black van drove up and he got out of it....when he walked past us, I took a quick picture. He walked into the trailer that was out there and a few minutes later, his guitar player motioned for us to come in. Me and my friend Lins started freeeakin out! But we walked in and John Mayer was standing there....he is SOOO Beautiful! lol. Truely. He was soooooo nice. He signed my baby-blue John Mayer T-shirt and my "Room For Squares" CD. On the CD, he wrote "To Ashley- Mayer- Love ya" Its sooo great cuz he didn't write that on Lins' cd and it made me feel special!! haha. That was seriously the greatest night of my life! There were these two skank girls that flirted backstage passes from a security guard, they got back, but they didn't meet John! Too funny! But anyway...about his performance...it was AWESOME! It even sounded better than on the album! He did such a great job...I'm an even bigger fan after seeing him on stage! It was sooo wonderful!!! I just wanted to share my perfect night with all of ya'll.. Hey think I'm bragging? YEAH! Wouldn't you??? Haha.
