(winter Solstice)  

 

Casting the Circle

 

Salt and Water

The Priest takes the Chalice of Water and the Priestess draws a Pentagram with the athame while saying “Embrace the Waters of the Womb of the Goddess.  They will comfort you and keep you safe and warm. So mote it be.

Everyone REpeats, "So mote it be."

 

The Priestess takes the bowl of Water and the Priest consecrates the water with the salt on the tip of the athame while saying “I consecrate this water with the salt of the Earth.  So mote it be."

the Priestess then walks the circle while sprinkling water.

 Incense

the Priest lights the incense and fans the smoke while casting the circle and saying, "I cast this circle with Fire and air, may it keep all creatures of mischievous intent and lower entities out. So mote it be."

Everyone repeats, "So mote it be."

 

        Join hands and raise energy      

Calling Quarters….

North – “I call to the power of the Elements fo the North, the power of Earth.  Bring  with you the Harvest of Spring on this the longest night of the year.  Come forth and be here now.”

Everyone repeats, "be here now."

East – “I call to the powers of the Elements of the East, the power of Air. Bring with you the essence of evergreens on this, the longest night of the year.  Come forth and be here now. “

Everyone repeats, "be here now." 

South – “ I call to the power of the Elements of the South, the power of Fire.  Bring with you the warmth of Summer on this the longest night of the the year.  Come forth and be here now.”

Everyone repeats, "be here now."

West – “ I call to the power of the Elements of the West, the power of Water.  Bring with you the Waters of the Womb on this the longest night of the year.  Come forth and be here now.”

 Everyone repeats, "be here now."

 

Call to the Goddess – I call to the Goddess Kore…the goddess of Springtime, to bring with her warmth and greenery to remind us of the Spring soon coming.  To give us strength to last through the Cold and Dark Winter.  Come forth and be here now.

 Everyone repeats, "be here now."

Call to the God - I call to the god Arawen...the king of the gods of the underworld.  It is the longest night of the year therefore comforting you the god of the otherworld.  Protect us in this darkness.  Come forth and be here now.

Everyone repeats, "be here now."

           Any Spells or Healings          

 This is where you would burn a candle for someone you need to send energy to or for.  THis is where we decorated our yule tree and made our yule wishes, and lit our yule candles.

Cakes and Ale

For cakes and ale the Priestess consecrates the cakes and starts to feed the person to her Left and says, "may you never hunger" that person feeds the person to their left and etc. until it goes around once.

The Priest consecrates the ale with the athame and offers the person to his left a drink and says, "may you never thirst"  again, it continues until it goes around once.   

Music, Chanting, dancing,

Feasting and socializing.....

We pass the bread and Mead (cakes and ale) and continue to chat and drum and dance (space permitting)

 

Closing the Circle

In reverse order…North, West, South, East. 

“I thank the Element of the North, Power of Earth.  Stay if you will and go if you must….hail and farewell.”

Etc…..

 

Then thank the God and the Goddess…

“I thank Kore for her presence this eve.  We thank her for the gift of warmth and for the forthcoming of Spring.  Stay if you will and go if you must.  Hail and farewell.”

 

The Circle is now open.

 

Sing…The circle is open but unbroken, may the peace of the Goddess be ever in your heart…Merry Meet, and merry part and merry meet again.
