Quote

"I am the Father, and the Son of the Mother, the Begetter and Begotten who dances creation. By many names I am known, yet all are the same." ~ Song of the God

Mabon Workshop

Mabon, which is also known as the autumn equinox, is held on September 22. This is a time when light and dark are once again equal, just like at Ostara. Also, Mabon is considered to be the second of the three harvest festivals of the year, which is when most of the crops are harvested. It is not uncommon for Mabon to be considered the Witchs Thanksgiving, since this is known as a time of the last harvesting and a time to give thanks to the God and Goddess for that which we have received throughout the year.

This is also the time when the God prepares for his upcoming death at Samhain. In some areas, it is said that the God gives his final bit of energy to the Earth to make a bountiful harvest right before his death. It is also a time when the Goddess becomes the Crone of the year, while the Maiden aspect of the Goddess is impregnated with the God, whom will be born at Yule.

Mabon is also a time to start on your canning, storing and wine making for the upcoming winter. It was believed in old times that if you blessed your fields early in spring, you would have a bountiful harvest in the fall, and since Mabon marks the end of most harvesting, it was a time for giving thanks and celebrating the God and Goddess and the plentiful bounty of the Earth.

There are many things that can be done to celebrate the coming of Fall. Some of which are hay rides, cookouts, bonfires, barn dances, wine making, and quilting.
