Cord Magick

Cord Magick is one of the very basic forms of magick to be done. This is a good way to bind and strengthen a spell that you may do. This is a very simple magick and doesnt take a lot of effort, just some concentration on the outcome that you are trying to achieve. In order to do cord magick, you need some kind of string, ribbon, yarn, etc. that is appropriate to your working. It is best to try to use a color that corresponds to the goal of your working too.

Ethics plays a major part in any practice of magick. Magick, which is the manipulation of natural energies to bring about a change in your life or someone else's, can backlash at one if things are not carefully thought out. For example, when attempting to cast any sort of spell, one must take into consideration who and what will be effected. Once this is clear, and no one is to be harmed, the spellcaster must approach those involved and ask for permission. Without the consent of the people involved, free will is being tampered with. Free will is the number one topic of concern when casting. "Ever mind the rule of three, what you send out, comes back to thee." This is an important aspect of any craft or magick you intend to cast. "Harm none, do what ye will". Going against one's free will is a form of harm, no matter how or what the intentions are. Even if they are the best intentions, such as healing magick, it is still without their knowledge and therefore harmful magick.

First, determine how many knots that you want to put into your spell. Remember, it is always best to use anything equal to the number 3. In magick, 3 is a very powerful and magickal number, so it is always good to strengthen your magick by the number 3. You can write your own little rhyming chant for each knot that you tie in your cord.

When you are writing your chant, make sure that you are stating what you are trying to do and what you want the outcome to be. Always consider your purpose and if you are harming anyone by what your are trying to do. Make sure that you are thinking about these things at all times.

Once you have tied the knots in the cord, you can do a variety of things. This can be a spell where you go back after so long and untie the knots. You can also bury the cord once you have tied the knots in it and are finished with it. You can keep the cord in a special box or cloth until you need it again. Once again, this is personal choice and you can use whatever method you feel appropriate. Here are some examples of chants for the cord magick:

Two Variations of Cord Magick Chants

   Variation 1

By knot of one, this spell's begun.
By knot of two, it will come true.
By knot of three, my power shall be.
By knot of four, this power I store.
By knot of five, this spell's alive.
By knot of six, events I'll fix.
By knot of seven, to Asgard's Heaven.
I send my spell for the Gods to see,
To give me aid and enlighten me.
This spell goes out on wings of power
To return full-grown in another hour.

   Variation 2

By knot of 1, this spell's begun.
By knot of 2, it cometh true.
By knot of 3, So Mote it Be.
By knot of 4, I open the door.
By knot of 5, this spell shall thrive.
By knot of 6, this spell I fix.
By knot of 7, the stars in heaven.
By knot of 8, I seal the fate.
By knot of 9, what I want is mine.
   With Harm to None,
   So Mote it Be!

When you are making your own cord magick, chants, just try to be as creative as possible while accomplishing your end goal. The rhyming tends to make these things easier to say and remember and also sometimes will add power to your working as well. Again, this is your choice as to how you want to do it, just remember your intent and not harming anyone.
