If you have never heard about the becky band, don't be ashamed: they're a new band and they don't even have a CD out yet. It features Keanu Reeves, but it's really not what it is about, and when you see them all together, you'll trully notice it.

Everything started when Rob and Rebecca met on a gym on January 2001 and decided to play together, since both were musicians. She'd sing and Rob'd play the keyboards. One day Rob's friend from a Hockey team they played, Paulie, joined them with the guitar and Rob switched to drums. The three of them liked what it sounded like and decided to form a band. Meanwhile, Keanu, Rob's friend over 13 years (they played together along Bret Domrose in the band Dogstar), was in Australia filming the last two Matrixes, and when he came back Rob invited him to join, even thought they were already audictioning for a bass player. Keanu fit right as a glove, and they started writing all the songs together. The sound is kind of punkish, some people say it's angry-girl rock, and they have been compared to The Donnas, The Kinks and No Doubt (but I do not think they sound like No Doubt at all, really). Thirteen of their songs are available on their official site, www.beckyband.com, but they have played others live. You may recognize Rebecca from the reality show MTV's The Real World - she was on season 7, Seattle. Also I should mention that she and Rob are linked.

Facts:
 mostly about the band or Rebecca and Rob, cos if you're here you probably know Keanu and I don't know much about Paulie :(


- The band is called becky because that's how Rebecca's mom call her and she hates it. Then Rob started to call her like that and Paulie joined on in it and later gave the idea for the name of the band. Everybody loved it, except for her, but now she actually likes being a "Becky"
- The Disney's cartoon Jojo's Circus's theme song is played by the band
- I adore you was the only song not written by all band members (Rebecca wrote it and Paulie added something)
- Rebecca writes all the lyrics and melodies
- Paulie counts to four in japanese ("Ichi, ni, san, shi") after the intro in One Thing
- Rebecca does a very low strange voice after the intro in Oblivious
- Evangeline is about a woman who died this year
- They always start a show with Bee Bop
- Rob, Rebecca and Keanu share some music tastes in common: The Clash, Joy Division, Coldplay...but Paulie loves Green Day and Blink 182
- They have made two TV appearances: Orlando Jones show and Sharon Osbourne show
- Rebecca has a solo CD called "Faintest Trace" (know more about it here) and another one with her back in Virginia band With Rebecca called "Listen"
- Speaking of her, after The Real World she spent a year on Italy, then moved to New York and finally Los Angeles. Before The Real World she went to the University of Virginia
- Before The Real World, she didn't know she wanted to be a musician, even thought she always loved music and singing. She co-wrote her first song with the rapper Sir Mix-a-lot when she was still on the show. The song was called "Innocence"
- Rob played the piano before Dogstar - then he learned how to play the drums
- Rob is an actor (filmography)
- He's left handed (and so is Keanu, even thought he's right-handed on bass)
- He's 6' 4" (1.93 m)
- Holds a BFA from Catholic University
- Has a sister, if I'm not wrong. Keanu has two younger sisters (Kim and Karina) and Rebecca is the youngest of a family with one sister and two brothers (Sharon, David and Matthew). I don't know about Paulie...
- ...but he's the only one in the band who's married. He also has a child.
- As for fashion, we have seem them wearing Adidas, Abercrombie & Fitch and Nikita wear
- Speaking of Abercrombie & Fitch, Rebecca was a model on its 1999 Catalog
- Paulie's nickname Durnan Sawchuk comes from the best hockey goalies of all time, Bill Durnan and Terry Sawchuk (thanks Dawni)
- Yes, Paulie's a hockey goalie and so is Keanu. Rob also plays hockey. That's how the boys met
- Rebecca's first peck was given by Dave Matthews when she was 14. That was the lowest point of her life, according to her
